In cooperation with the family of American Latvian patrons – Roberts and Dagnija Rūsis, in 2017, a scholarship was established to promote the education of nurses and raise the prestige of this profession in Latvia.


Scholarship is intended for the students of the master's study programme "Nursing" at the University of Latvia (UL) Faculty of Medicine and for students of the master's study programme "Nursing" at the Riga Stradiņš University (RSU), Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare.

The weighted average grade must be at least 8. Preference is given to students involved in student corporations.

Number of scholarships: 2.

Scholarship amount: EUR 2 500 per academic year.

Scholarship Commission: Patron Roberts Rūsis, representative of the patron Pauls Bērziņš (Chairman of the Scholarship commission), President of the Latvian Nurses Association Dita Raiska, Director of the Master's Study Programme "Nursing" Assoc. Prof. Igors Ivanovs, Lecturer and Director of the Professional Higher Education Bachelor Study Programme "Nursing" Ina Mežiņa-Mamajeva, Executive Director of the UL Foundation Laila Kundziņa.


Within a single academic year, the applicant may receive only one scholarship financed by the patrons of the University of Latvia Foundation.
