Terry Glossop Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship was established in 2020 at the initiative of family and friends to honour Terance George Glossop (1934–2019).

Terry Glossop and his wife Baiba Liepiņa called Riga their home for the last 16 years of his life. Terry loved Latvia and it was his wish to contribute to the development of Latvian research in the field of oncology, as well as to help future generations.


The scholarship is intended for the University of Latvia (UL) Faculty of Biology and the UL Faculty of Medicine doctor's degree students who are engaged in molecular biology research specifically in the field of oncology.

Number of scholarships: 2.

Scholarship amount: EUR 1 500 per academic year.

Scholarship Committee: Donors’ representative, Dr. Ģirts Jānis Zēgners, Dean of the UL Faculty of Biology, Professor Didzis Elferts, Dean of the UL Faculty of Medicine, Professor Valdis Folkmanis.


Within a single academic year, the applicant may receive only one scholarship financed by the patrons of the University of Latvia Foundation.
