Salaspils Regional Community lies in the centre of Latvia, Riga region, on the right bank of the Daugava River, on the Ropaži plain of Central Latvia lowland. In the north of the territory flows the River Mazā Jugla.

The territory of the town covers 12 km2, the total area of the rural territory is 115 km2. 15.8% of the territory is occupied by the reservoir of Riga Hydroelectric Station, 30.5% are forests, whereas agricultural lands occupy 32.5% of the land. Salaspils is situated within 18 km from Riga. The nearest towns are Ikšķile (11 km), Ogre (18 km) and Baldone (21 km).

In the rural territory, there are several large settlements, the biggest of them being Saulkalne (1 385 residents) and Acone (672 residents). The territory of Salaspils also includes the Dole island with its country park. The current rural territory, apart from the former Salaspils parish land, also includes shares of the neighboring parishes’ territories – Stopiņi, Ropaži, Katlakalns, Ikšķile and Dole.

In 2013, the local government of Salaspils Regional Community donated EUR 4 300 to give the opportunity to the youth of Salaspils to study in a higher education establishment in Latvia in the 2013/2014 academic year. The recipients of the scholarships were Jana Kolbina, Anna Viktorija Lukjanska, Laima Salcēviča.
