The revenue brought by EUR 2.4 million capital bequeathed to the University of Latvia by Riga-born patron Kurt Hagen (1916–2000) gives students an opportunity to gain experience in one of the 15 University of Latvia partner universities in Germany for a semester.  


Scholarship is intended for gifted University of Latvia master's and doctoral students (except for those in the last semester of their studies).

Number of scholarships: not stipulated.

Scholarship amount: EUR 7 000 per semester.

Scholarship Commission: Dean of the UL Faculty of Law Assoc. Prof. Anita Rodiņa, Archbishop of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church Jānis Vanags, Executive Director of the UL Foundation Laila Kundziņa, Rector of the University of Latvia Prof. Indriķis Muižnieks (Chairman of the Scholarship commission).


Within a single academic year, the applicant may receive only one scholarship financed by the patrons of the University of Latvia Foundation.
