Patroness Dzintra Uibo (1956) is a graduate of the University of Latvia, an economist. One of the first female managers of brokerage firms on the Latvian stock exchange. Founder and Chairwoman of the Board of company Amaija.

Dzintra Uibo is highly aware of the importance of education in shaping a career and wants her children, Andrejs and Maija, to appreciate the current vast spectrum of self-development opportunities open today.

"We must do our utmost to put the University of Latvia on the list of the world's leading universities. If we manage that, instead of sending our children to study abroad, young people from other countries will be proud to have a diploma of our university."


Support

Dzintra Uibo has long been supporting projects related to the development of the UL Faculty of Humanities and the UL Faculty of Medicine.

In the 2010/2011 academic year, the patroness donated EUR 1 000 to scholarship "Ceļamaize 2012".

In the 2010/2011 academic year, Dzintra Uibo additionally supported scholarship "Ceļamaize 2010" by awarding a scholarship to Ieva Krekovska, a graduate of Kuldīga Secondary School No. 2, a student of the UL Faculty of Social Sciences.

In 2012, she supported scholarship "Ceļamaize" with a donation of EUR 1 000 and the restoration of the Fireplace Hall in Kristaps Morbergs’ apartment, contributing EUR 710.

In 2013, Dzintra Uibo established an Excellence Scholarship for students of the UL Faculty of Medicine. In the 2013/2014 academic year, it was awarded to Anna Saarements from Estonia, as she achieved the highest weighted average grade in the course according to the first year results.

In 2013, the patroness extended individual support for the restoration of the organ in the University of Latvia Great Hall.
