Elizabete Akmentiņa (1920–2014) was born in Kārsava district on 27 June 1920. In the aftermath of the World War II, 1949, herself and her family were deported to the Amur region of Siberia. After returning in 1957, she worked at a collective farm all her life.

Support

On 11 September 2007, she transferred her real estate "Apiņu mājas" in Malnava, Kārsava municipality, to the University of Latvia, and also gifted to the university her certificates of compensation and privatization.

Her donation in the 2009/2010 academic year enabled seven UL students to receive the scholarship "Ceļamaize 2009" ("Bread for the journey 2009").

We greatly appreciate the generous support to education!
