Located on the east coast of the United States, in Connecticut, is the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Willimantic. It was founded in the middle of last century. It is part of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church outside Latvia, which was formed by the leadership of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church after its emigration from Latvia after the World War II. The leader of the church is Dr. pr. Vija Bachmuts.

Dean of the UL Faculty of Theology, Prof. Dace Balode expresses her gratitude to the US patrons for their support, emphasizing that it is a special gift: "We are grateful for the selflessness and interest in continuation and development of theological work in Latvia. This support is much needed and strengthens all of us both materially and morally, giving confidence that we have friends and supporters near and far, and that our work is never in vain."

Support

In 2019, in cooperation with the "Friends of the University of Latvia", the congregation donated USD 20 000 to establish a scholarship fund to support students of the UL Faculty of Theology.

Scholarships

The first scholarships in the 2019/2020 academic year were awarded to Inga Bertuža and Ineta Lansdovne.

We greatly appreciate the generous support to education and development!
